Maggie, yes the almond is for the icing, the original recipe calls for clear vanilla, which I didn't have. i tried regular dark vanilla, but it didnt produce the pretty white icing I wanted, so I subbed almond extract. i loved the way the almond tasted with the cookie. Thanks, I've made the correction on the recipe!

Si, My girls all played high-school varsity tennis and I loved those pine trees near the courts. Thank goodness for friends and neighbors during a crisis. We didn't fare as badly as you but my neighbors roof keeps landing on my driveway a little bit more each day. Hope things are getting back to normal.
